Dave Grohl Doesn’t Care If the Foo Fighters Win Any More Grammys
The Grammys ceremony earlier this month was evidence Dave Grohl is pretty much just there to have a good time. During a pre-show interview, the Foo Fighters leader said the actual gramophone trophies are fairly low stakes these days. (In fact, it took Grohl a moment to even remember the Foo Fighters’ nominations.)
Grohl said he’s more inclined to root for up-and-coming bands rather than his own. “We’re the old guys,” he said. “We root for the young ones. We don’t sit there and think, ‘God, I hope I get another f---ing Grammy!’” The Foos have taken home 11 Grammys over the years.
He had some particularly kind words for Best Alternative Music Album winners Alabama Shakes. “We’re like, ‘That Alabama Shakes record kicks ass,’” Grohl continued. “You root for the young ones coming up. A band like Alabama Shakes, they’re a good example, because they’ve been around for a while… They have been working hard. So, they deserve everything they get. Killer band, it’s a great record.”
Grohl also discussed his second-line with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Watch the complete interview at the top of the page (via Alternative Nation).
