Emergency Crews Attempting To Recover Body Found In Niagara River
If you are traveling down the 190 this morning, there are a lot of emergency crews at the foot of the Niagara River at West Ferry Street in Buffalo. Police have been on the scene since about 5:30 this morning.
According to some accounts on twitter, there is an attempt at a body recovery. Below, you can also see video captured from someone on the Canadian side, looking over to Buffalo.
UPDATE: Most people were concerned if it was the recovery of Saniyya Dennis, the college student who went missing on April 24.
Police have told WKBW's Ed Drantch that "they've found a white male's body in the water. We don't have any information about age or identity-- though police are saying this is "definitely not the [Buffalo State College] student from what they can tell."
We will keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
The Niagara River does not have the best history. It is a no-joke river and can be very dangerous. Lieutenant Craig Lehner went missing during a dive exercise in the Niagara River back in October 2017 and was found days later. Every anniversary people all throughout Western New York put out blue pumpkins around the Halloween season to honor him.
