Is Facebook Deleting People’s Videos In New York?
Changes at Meta may affect you in a big way, especially if you've posted videos to Facebook. But is it true that they are deleting videos?
Millions of Americans and billions of people worldwide have a Facebook account. The platform has become a way for people to share their lives and opinions with the world, for better or worse. One of the ways people love to share is through photos and videos. In fact, it's one of the primary ways some people stay up to date on their family members, grandkids, and friends by seeing pictures and videos of them on Facebook and their platforms.
Some people have videos and pictures on Facebook that date back to when Facebook first began in the early 2000s. It's crazy to think about how many of our lives have changed since then. It's always nice to look back on Facebook and see those memories. However, those memories could soon be going away.
Is Facebook Deleting People's Videos In New York?
Facebook has been sending out emails to warn people to save their videos, or they could be gone forever. Millions of people use Facebook as their personal scrapbook. They upload pictures from an event or a night out with friends with the idea that they'll be there forever. That is what people are warned of any time they put things on social media, right?
Facebook is saying that might not be exactly true.
They've been sending emails to people warning them that they're rolling out changes to their storage policy for Facebook Live videos. So if you've ever broadcast and shared a Facebook Live video on your page and want to keep it, you'll need to go into Facebook and save it to your computer.
The goal is to limit the amount of storage they will need and also to move people to share "Reels" instead of full videos.
How long do I have before Facebook deletes my photos?
It looks as though they're going to give people until June 29th to download their old videos. However, new videos that were broadcast after February 19th of this year will only be saved for 30 days. They will automatically be deleted after 30 days.
They have said though that they're adding new tools to make downloading your live videos easier for you to do.
How do you download a live video from Facebook?
- Download an individual live video from your profile, Page, or Meta Business Suite.
- On a profile or on a Page on your device, find the Videos tab. On a Page, if you’re on the web, find the Live tab. You may need to click More to see the Live tab.
- Choose the video you want to download.
- Open the full-screen view, then click […] and choose “Download video.”
- You can also download one or more live videos from your Page or profile’s Activity Log. To download your live videos, select “Your live videos,” then choose a date range to see videos available to download.
