Governor Cuomo Renews Unpopular Executive Order for New York State
It's been a different world since the pandemic began in March of last year and New York State has also had to adapt to the "new normal," which includes many new executive orders and restrictions that were put in place over the last 12 months/
There was, however, a new executive order that was implemented last summer that was extended this week that doesn't have restaurant and bar owners very happy.
WIVB reports that New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended the executive order that requires a food purchase with an alcohol order.
This restriction was put in place in July of 2020 and there has been backlash from bar and restaurant owners alike.

Just last month, a resolution was introduced to appeal that executive order, according to WKBW.
"I just think there's no basis in science whatsoever for having to purchase alcohol with food. There's several other nonsensical arguments like this," said NYS Senator George Borello (R - 57th District).
The extension will last until May 6th. It is unclear whether or not there will be any further extensions of this new executive order.
Governor Cuomo also extended an executive order this week that allows alcohol-to-go orders to be made at bars and restaurants; that is also extended until May 6th.
My future mother-in-law works at a bar in Rochester and she, like many, isn't a fan of this executive order that requires a food purchase with an alcohol order. I'm still waiting for us to get back to normal but who knows when that will be.
