Hi-Jack Your Weekend With These 5 Free (or Super-Cheap) Jacktivities
If you're like me, you love a good deal and you like to have fun, so here are some acitivies to do around the Buffalo area that are not going to make your wallet weep. Did someone say I was cheap? Ahem -- I think the politically correct term is monitarily challenged.

Meagan Kyla Griffis Sculpture Park
This place is so rad! For a small donation of $5 ($3 for students and seniors; kids under 12 are free!) slipped into the yellow honor system box, gets you into a 450-acre farm filled with hiking trails, interactive sculptures and picnic locations. This unique experience is about eight miles outside of Ellicottville, but the drive is scenic, and the parking is FREE! I recommend bringing your camera, as there are so many photo opportunities -- like jailing your husband in a sculpture.
Albright-Knox Art Gallery's First Fridays
From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every Friday, admission to the 1962 Knox building is FREE! Check out the schedule before you go because there are activities for the kids, music and tours.

mmolinari, Flickr Splash Pads
There are various splash pad locations around Buffalo that are FREE! If you have kids or are a big kid yourself, they're a great way to stay cool this summer. Pack a lunch, grab your towels and apply some sunscreen.

Cubosh, Flickr Buffalo City Hall Tour
Take a FREE guided tour of our historic City Hall, no reservations needed! The one-hour tour, during which you can view the Art Deco masterpiece inside and out, is available every day at noon (except holidays). The Observation Deck is a personal favorite, as it has a fantastic view of the waterfront and downtown Buffalo. If you don't know where City Hall is, just plug in 65 Niagara Square, Buffalo, N.Y., on the ol' GPS, and enjoy!

The Buffalo Zoo, Facebook The Buffalo Zoo's Free Ferocious Fridays
The Buffalo Zoo holds Free Ferocious Fridays in July and August. You'll get free admission into the zoo from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., and they keep the grounds open until 8:30 p.m. Take advantage of this opportunity before the end of this month!
