Buffalo Bills Players Who Could Be Released to Save Money
The Buffalo Bills' off-season is about to get very busy.
The Super Bowl is this Sunday, which is a matchup most Bills fans rather just not watch (Chiefs vs. 49ers) but after that, the fun begins.
The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from February 26th to March 4th. The Bills staff will be there looking at prospects and conducting interviews.
After the combine, we have the start of the new league year, which also is the start of free agency. That date is March 13th at 4 pm.
The Bills won't be a team who makes a huge splash in free agency, simply because they don't have the money to do so. Spotrac has them estimated at -$51 million, which means they will have to do a lot of work to get back under the salary cap.
You can almost guarantee a Josh Allen restructure, which would likely result in Josh's 2024 cash being converted into a signing bonus. That and a Dion Dawkins extension/restructure would be very helpful, but the Bills need more work to create space to sign their draft picks and sign some serviceable free agents -- plus re-signing one or two of their pending free agents.
There are likely to be players who the Bills release to save money against the cap...these are often referred to as "cap casualties."
Buffalo has a few candidates for that, with a few fan-favorites for Bills Mafia. Don't be surprised if any of these players are released in 2024 to save cap space.
