The Buffalo Bills Make a Crucial Re-Signing
This might be the busiest start to NFL free agency we have ever seen.
The first 24 hours of the legal tampering period has been fast and furious. Fans and media members are having a difficult time keeping up with all the signings, re-signings and trades.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed running back Saquon Barkely, the Atlanta Falcons signed quarterback Kirk Cousins and the Green Bay Packers signed running back Josh Jacobs, just to name a few of the moves that took place on Monday.
The Bills lost Gabe Davis, who signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while they also lost Leonard Floyd to the San Francisco 49ers.
However, general manager Brandon Beane re-signed edge rusher A.J. Epenesa to a very team-friendly contract, with low cap hits spread out over three seasons.
While most people were sleeping on early Tuesday morning, Beane made another important re-signing.
The Bills have officially re-signed defensive tackle DaQuan Jones to a two-year, $16.5 million contract.
The re-signings of Jones and Epenesa is critical. The Bills need help at multiple positions and their defensive line looked thin heading into Monday.
Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau are stable forces but Von Miller will be 35 years old in 2024 and is coming off another major knee injury. The Bills are thin at DT too.
They will absolutely address the defensive line during the draft but with the glaring need of a young, rookie contract wide receiver, the 28th overall pick might already be allocated towards that.
The Bills still need to add another safety. We will have to wait and see if they do that in free agency, which also might be where they add a veteran wide receiver.
