Gluten Free? Here’s Where You Can Eat At The Fair
A lot of us go for the animals, others for the rides, but whatever you seek at the Erie County Fair, most visits end with one thing in particular.
The food.
Maybe you have tagged along every year to the Erie County Fair to be part of the Best 12 Days of Summer, but you have never been able to enjoy the delicious fair food that your friends and family could.
Thankfully, the wait is over! This year, for the first time ever, there will be a gluten free designated area at the Erie County Fair.

Although the world is becoming more inclusive to those who have a gluten free diet, it is still a little behind when it comes to county fairs across the country, so it’s really amazing to see the Erie County Fair become one of the first county fairs to offer an option for those who are gluten free.
Maybe you like nachos or fried cheese on a stick. Let’s not forget about fried oreos (a classic) or cheesecake on a stick? (You can put pretty much anything on a stick and it will still receive the title of “fair food.”)
After a poll from last year at this time via our Facebook page at 106.5 WYRK, the #1 food item that fairgoers wanted at the fairgrounds this year was, by far, anything gluten free.
And now it’s finally here!
The Silly Yak shared the news earlier this summer that they will be the first ever, all gluten-free stand at the Erie County Fair.
“We are new around here and so excited to bring gluten-free fair food to our community starting at The 2023 Erie County Fair!”
The Silly Yak was a business initiative started by Michael and Rachael Krupski, who were both born and raised in Buffalo with a deep passion for the 716 community. In 2021, Rachael was diagnosed with Celiac disease, which turned their lives upside down as they navigated a new challenge.
“We've always had a passion for cooking, baking, and trying out new restaurants. The first few months were really tough, especially summer events like the fair.”
Michael is a volunteer firefighter for the department that covers the fairgrounds, so the couple always spends a lot of time hanging out during the best 12 days of the summer, which is what inspired them to start this business.
So many people have chimed in, eagerly looking forward to mozzarella sticks, corn dogs, funnel cakes, and more!
Where Can You Find The Gluten Free Fair Food
Michael Krupski said that the Silly Yak “will be set up trackside near the bazaar building,” so you can’t miss them.
