It may be another week for you watching the news, but the person behind the camera is celebrating this week.

On January 9, one television news reporter and anchor from WGRZ - Channel 2 is celebrating a milestone at work: her 12 year anniversary!

Melissa Holmes from WGRZ posted on Facebook, sharing a throwback photo and reflecting on all the stories and memories throughout the years.

Melissa Holmes joined WGRZ in January 2012. She grew up in Amherst and graduated from Sweet Home High School. Holmes continued her education at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude.

In her 21-year career with news broadcasts, she has earned several awards, including a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, three New York State Emmy Awards, first place for Public Service with the New York State Associated Press awards, and Medaille College’s Female News Anchor of the Year Award, just to name a few.

Let’s make it 12 years and counting! Congratulations, Melissa!

You can watch Melissa Holmes with the Daybreak team every weekday morning on WGRZ - Channel 2.
