Hundreds Teamed Up Around Town For Better Buffalo Day
There are plenty of signs that spring is in full swing around Western New York. After a long winter, there are flowers blooming all around the region, more people are coming outside, and the Sabres are digging deep to move on in the playoffs. All of these things, and more, are great for the Buffalo area. While the region is known for snow and cold, and we find great ways to embrace it, pretty much everyone around the 716 is over it.
Now, while it's great that the snow is gone and the warmer temps are here, the snow was doing something that we all pretty much like to ignore: hiding all the trash, grime, junk, and other crap that ends up on our streets during the winter. To help get rid of that and help the city start to shine a little, more than 600 people, who consisted of Buffalo residents, city workers, high school students, and more, fanned out across the city to participate in the very first Better Buffalo Day.

The concept is simple, people team up and hold neighborhood level clean ups aorund the city in the morning, and then in the afternoon, gather together in the city's main public square for a gathering that features food, community groups, music, and more.
More than 60 cleanups happened around the city, with more than 600 people getting together at various points around town. From Bailey in the University District to the lower Westside, folks raked leaves, filled lots of garbage bags with trash, and took steps to get Buffalo ready for summer.
