New Yorkers Should Be On The Lookout For POWER Checks

The last couple of years have been sort of a rollercoaster for Americans generally and New Yorkers specifically.

The last couple of years have seen the majority of Americans struggling more and more to just maintain a modest lifestyle. With an economy sputtering in some sectors and inflation that has driven many prices up significantly since 2020, day-to-day life is getting harder with every passing day.

Just when you thought things were already becoming difficult, it's even more expensive for the average person to live in America with the changes to our tariffs and other foreign policy stances.

As the United States continues its policy of applying universal tariffs on nations indiscriminately, many of our traditional trading partners are going ahead with reciprocal tariffs that match what the US is doing.

To help combat increased prices due to inflation and tariffs that many Empire State residents are dealing with, government leaders in Albany are taking steps to put a little more money in the pockets of everyday New Yorkers.

Starting later this month, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will begin issuing rebate checks to New Yorkers from a $1 billion fund meant to defray energy costs related to the tariffs.

POWER Rebate Checks Are Coming

New York's $1 billion Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate (POWER) program is set to send out checks to New Yorkers who meet certain qualifications.

Checks between $100 and $200 are being issued as advance credits on state tax returns, and single taxpayers who make less than 150,000 and joint taxpayers with income less than $300,000 are eligible.
