Snowmaking Begins At Holiday Valley In Ellicottville, New York
The weather has been in the news a lot lately. It initially looked like there was a Thanksgiving snow bomb on the way to New York, but that weather report changed quickly to high winds and rain.
The weather lately has been so good that it's pretty easy to forget the season. However, that does not mean that winter isn't coming - if there is one thing we know about Western New York in November and December is that the snow and cold are well on their way to the 716, even if it's not here yet.
Just in case you tried to forget, there is one sure sign that winter is coming.
Holiday Valley Tests is Snowmaking Equipment
While it's still a little early to hit the slopes, that doesn't mean the slopes aren't waiting for you to get on them.

I, like many people, was very pleased to see that Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, New York, has fired up the snowmaking machines.
Officials from Holiday Valley noted that the weather isn't quite ready for them to do long-term snowmaking, but the systems tests went well, and they'll be ready to make sure the slopes are ready for skiers and snowboarders.
The 2023-24 Ski & Snowboard season is approaching. We had a test run of the snowmaking system overnight on November 19th when the temps dropped as low as 24...Holiday Valley Snowmaking passed with flying colors! The long range forecast is not too favorable for snowmaking for the next few days, so check back for updates. We are as anxious as you are!
