The NFL has handed out this year’s compensatory picks, and the Bills didn’t quite get what they were expecting.

After losing Tremaine Edmunds in free agency a year ago, Buffalo was expecting the compensatory pick to come back as a third-rounder. The NFL apparently disagreed, giving Buffalo a fourth-round pick, no. 133 overall.

Brandon Beane Will Have Options With 11 Picks In The 2024 NFL Draft

There was optimism that the comp pick would slot into the third round, giving Beane and the Bills multiple picks in a rich second day of the draft. Now as a fourth-rounder, Buffalo only has one pick on Day 2 – 60th overall.

It’s hard to imagine that Beane, who has made six trades over the last two drafts, won’t be looking to move around the board with all the ammunition he has at his disposal. Beane could be eying some moves to move up into the second or third round of the draft with the bevy of Day 3 picks that he has at his disposal.

Another move not to rule out – if there’s a quarterback on the board when Buffalo is on the clock late in the first round such as Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr, there could be a market to trade down and add even more draft depth.

Regardless of what Beane decides to do, there’s almost assuredly going to be movement and, by extension, excitement, during this year’s draft.
