In a pleasant surprise, the newly rebranded and reopened Harbor Walk Buffalo announced its opening menu -- and a list of bands scheduled to play the waterfront venue this summer.

New owner Angelo Canna Jr. announced back in April that he was partnering with Mike Shatzel and Jason Davidson to reform the space formerly known as The Hatch and its neighboring restaurant into a new destination for a handful of waterfront concerts, something he said customers have been asking for since concerts moved from Canalside down to the Outer Harbor.

“We want to bring it back on a smaller scale, highlighting local bands,” he said at the time.

Now we know which local bands will be playing those inaugural spots this summer, starting this Friday when Relics takes the stage to play the music of Pink Floyd. Tickets start at $12 presale ($15.18 with all fees added) and available here.

“Live music is back on Buffalo’s Waterfront at a new venue, Harbor Walk in Erie Basin Marina,” the website says. “Enjoy live music, food and drinks overlooking Lake Erie, the Buffalo Lighthouse and majestic sunsets. Music Matters by Jeff Miers will be presenting local live music all summer at Harbor Walk.”

All other concerts this summer are scheduled for Thursdays, a throwback for those who miss the old Thursday in the Square series or even the early years of Canalside shows.

The list includes:

  • June 6: Vinnie Hendrix Experience
  • June 13: Damone Jackson Outcome with Tiger Chung Lee
  • June 20: Miller and the Other Sinners
  • June 27: Rockaz
  • July 4: TBA
  • July 11: Buffalo Dead ‘79
  • July 18: The Talking Dead Heads (on the USS Little Rock)
  • July 25: Farrow
  • August 1: Critt with Blaised & Confused
  • August 8: TBA
  • August 15: Scarlet Begonias
  • August 22: Funktional Flow
  • August 29: Strictly Hip

The new venue doesn’t have its own social media profiles yet, and little other information was available at this time, but this is at least the second waterfront venue and the fourth new overall location for bands to play in Buffalo in the past calendar year, joining Terminal B at the Outer Harbor, Electric City and Riff City.  It also adds to the options for what’s already a busy summer concert season in a city where we take our free and low-cost shows very seriously when the weather’s nice and the sunsets are glowing.
