Buffalo History Museum To Honor Goo Goo Dolls

The Goo Goo Dolls are celebrating their 40th anniversary next year, and they are set to be honored with a special exhibit at the Buffalo History Museum.

The Goo Goo Dolls have been together as a band since 1987, and to honor their musical achievements, the Buffalo History Museum announced they are holding a special exhibit of the band.

The "Long Way Home: 40 Years of the Goo Goo Dolls" exhibit will be dedicated to the Buffalo-born rock band. The exhibit is set to open September 16th and will trace the band's history and impact in their hometown.

The Goo Goo Dolls rose to national and international fame in 1995 when thier single "Name" hit #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. That song would stay on the charts for 36 weeks.

The Goo Goo Dolls got another massive hit when their song "Iris" spent 11 months on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and rose to #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

"Iris" was also named the song in Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs between 1992 and 2012.

Robby Takac from the band also created Music Is Art to help spread music across Western New York
