The Buffalo Bills Have The NFL’s Number One Running Back
As the hometown Buffalo Bills handled business on the field in Cleveland and got some help from a few other teams in the NFL to secure their seventh straight playoff appearance, one thing has become abundantly clear: the Bills' offense is one of the best in the league. That's especially true when one player in particular gets the ball.
The 2025 season has been one of the best for Bills running back James Cook.
As of the end of week sixteen, Cook is the NFL's leading rusher, averaging 5.3 yards per rush and more than 100 yards per game. His 1,532 yards this season put him at the top of the rushing leader board, beating out some other big-name runners in the league, including the Colts' Jonathan Taylor, the Dolphins' De'Von Achane, and the Ravens' Derrick Henry.
This is also the third straight year the Miami, Florida, native has gained at least 1,000 yards in the season.
Once you combine that with his now three Pro Bowl nominations, it's clear to see that Buffalo has one of the best running backs in the league, and he should contribute to Buffalo's success for years to come thanks to the 4-year contract extension that he signed at the start of the season.
With two more games left this season, it's a real possibility that the NFL rushing championship nod will come home to Buffalo, which would be the first time that has happened in nearly 50 years.
Bills fans far and wide will be looking forward to the future, as the Bills' window for winning is still wide open.
