Going into the 2022 NFL Draft, most Buffalo Bills fans agreed that cornerback and wide receiver were the two positions that needed to be addressed in the draft.

General manager Brandon Beane said as much after the draft concluded; nationally the talk was running back (Breece Hall), while cornerback and wide receiver were the two positions talked about most in Buffalo.

While the Bills did go cornerback in round one (Kaiir Elam) and wide receiver in round five (Khalil Shakir), Beane made a move for running back at the end of round two.

The Bills selected Georgia running back James Cook at 63rd overall. Cook is the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl running back, Dalvin Cook.

James Cook isn’t a big back in stature (5’11’’ and 199 lbs.), but he has speed and explosiveness that the Bills don’t current have at running back and he’s an excellent pass catcher. Outside of Arizona State’s Rachaad White, Cook was likely the best pass-catching running back in the draft.

For those reasons, oddsmakers think he had great odds to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL.

BetOnline lists Cook with the fourth best odds (tied) to win Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2022.

Chris Olave makes sense because he is sure to be featured a great deal with the Saints.

Cook’s potential in year one is high, but the Bills offense still has to feed the likes of Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Dawson Knox, Jamison Crowder, Isaiah McKenzie and Devin Singletary.

Cook is a solid pick but Skyy Moore at +1400 is super enticing.
