New Bills Draft Pick Says “Go Bills” After First Interview
Round one of the 2022 NFL Draft was as entertaining as can be. For the first time ever, six wide receivers went in the top 18 picks. Two edge rushers went in the top two picks and the next two picks were cornerbacks.
It speaks to the modern-day NFL. You have to pass the ball and stop the pass.
The Bills got in on the cornerback market. They traded up two spots to pick 23 to draft Florida’s Kaiir Elam.
Elam is a 6’2’’ cornerback who is long and athletic. He ran a 4.39 40-yard-dash and had one of the best vertical jumps at the combine.
He played a lot of press-man coverage in college but can also play zone. His biggest knock is interception production and tackling, but playing a lot of press-man likely contributed to those knocks. His potential is unmatched.
Elam talked with the Buffalo media after his selection and said how grateful he was to be drafted by the Bills. His father is former New York Jets defensive back Abram Elam, so he is ready for the spotlight.
Elam ended his interview by saying “Go Bills.”
The Bills will more than likely address offense on day two of the NFL Draft. They hold the 57th and 89th overall pick.
Im betting on general manager Brandon Beane adding wide receiver on day two. Maybe they will trade up, but they did give up a 4th rounder to trade up for Elam.
