It was announced today that KeyBank will be closing eight of its Western New York locations, according to WGRZ.

The move is an attempt to reduce retail facilities since many customers these days are using digital banking.

The branches closing span the suburbs and the City of Buffalo. Buffalo Business First reports that among the closing branches will be locations at Sheridan and Harlem (4020 Sheridan Dr.) in Amherst, the Appletree Mall branch at 2929 Union Road in Cheektowaga, the North Buffalo branch at 2141 Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo, and the Derby branch at 6932 Erie Road in Derby.

You can read the full list of branches closing at Buffalo Business First's website.

KeyBank says that all of the consolidated branches are in close proximity to one another and client's accounts will be automatically transferred to the new location, which you can find here.

According to WGRZ, KeyBank will still operate 56 locations in both Erie and Niagara County. For comparison, M&T Bank operates 54 branches in both counties.

If you usually visit one of these eight locations, it's definitely important information going forward as you will have to use a new location.
