Live Music Is Alive and Well In Western New York
There is nothing better than going out to see live music. Whether it is your favorite local band, a tribute band, or a national act coming through.
Sure the giant venues serve their purpose but there is really nothing like seeing talented musicians in a smaller, more intimate venue and Western New York has no shortage of that. The vibe of a smaller room, the collective energy in the room, can be more intoxicating and more stimulating than any drug out there.
There are a few really cool events coming up at some even cooler venues.
THE TRALF: Located right on Main Street (next to Shea's Performing Arts Center) The Tralf is an iconic venue. Back before smartphones and social media, after playing a show at Shea's Prince, yes, that Prince. He walked next door and jammed out way after curfew. If you are into The Tragically Hip this Friday (February 4th, 2022) The Strictly Hip is playing their annual January Residency Show. And yes, it's February but the original January gig was postponed.
THE RIVIERA THEATER. 67 Webster Street in North Tonawanda is a historical landmark. They do everything from live music, to movies, as well as, the Wurlitzer Theater Organ. For those who want to rock out 70s style, Derek St. Holmes Band will be playing Tuesday, February 8, 2022. For those who want to rock out 80s style. Jack Russell's Great White will be taking the stage Saturday, February 26 2022 with special guest Kip Winger opening with an acoustic set.
SPORTSMAN TAVERN: 326 Amherst Street in Buffalo is unassuming but man, the constant flow of talent that plays there is nothing short of amazing. If you are into FUNKADELIC music you may want to go next door to THE CAVE next Thursday, February 10 2022 to see the Funk Knights.
BABEVILLE/ASBURY HALL: Located right on the corner of Tupper and Delaware is one of the most impressive buildings in the city. A renovated church that truly inspires. The venue does it all. Music, poetry, art exhibits, and charity fundraiser like The 90's Valentine's Day Prom, to benefit Autism Services happening Saturday, February 12 2022. Live music from GEEZER (a Greenday/Weezer tribute band).
TOWN BALLROOM: Located right across from The Tralf on Main Street, 'The Ballroom' always has great shows for almost any genre. In fact, Kid Rock played there, after he made it big.
There you have it. A few notable places to get your LIVE VIBE ON. Enjoy the show.
