Call it a lost weekend. I sat parked in front of the Boob Tube taking in March Madness. No not College Basketball, College Hockey. I was hooked the minute Boston College, the odds-on favorite, was bounced by Colorado College.Saturday, Denver came back from two goals down and won in double over-time against Western Michigan. By Sunday Night, the Frozen Four was settled with only one number one seed remaining.

Perhaps I'm just pining for playoff hockey again, but these games were high intensity and a lot of fun to watch. No clutching and grabbing, just end to end action and lots of talent. Know who else may have been watching? Nathan Gerbe (in between Sabres games of course). He won the championship with Boston College in 2008. Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek also came out of the NCAA, and more and more players are coming through the college system.

Lots of  NCAA Hockey upsets  over the weekend too, with Miami-Ohio losing to New Hampshire and Minnesota-Duluth beating top-seeded Yale. Heading into next weekend's Frozen Four, only one number one seed remains, the University of North Dakota and their politically incorrect nickname the Fighting Sioux.  Also earning a trip to the Frozen Four their opponent Michigan. The Frozen Four meet on April 7 in St. Louis. Minnesota-Duluth and Notre Dame is the other match-up with the Championship game on Saturday April 9. Should be a lot of fun to watch.
