Survey Reveals Men Continue to Pay for Dates, But They’d Like Women to Help Out
Who said chivalry is dead?
A new survey of more than 17,000 men and woman has shed some light on attitudes about who should pay for dates.
MEN, MAKE SURE YOU HIT THE ATM
A total of 84% of men and 58% of women say men pay for most dates, even after men and women have been going out for a respectable amount of time.
HELP A BROTHA OUT!
Even though men are more likely to foot the bill, about two-thirds of all fellas say the fairer sex should chip in and 44% would go so far as to break up with a woman who never coughs up any cash.
WOMEN WANT TO BE WINED AND DINED
While men would certainly appreciate if the ladies in their lives opened their wallets, 39% of women would like if guys turned them down when offering to pay for part of a date. A full 44% of women said they get upset when men expect them to contribute money to a date.
So, men want women to make a financial contribution to a date, yet more than 75% feel badly about taking money from women. Talk about a mixed message.
EQUALITY ABOUNDS
As relationships progress, it’s more likely that women will drop some shekels during a night out. Forty percent of men and woman claim dating expenses are shared to some degree within one month. That number shoots up to 74% six months into a romance.
