Buffalo Bills defensive end Michael Hoecht returned to the active roster this past Sunday after being suspended by the NFL for the first 6 games of the season, and it looks like he could be seeing more NFL punishment coming his way.

Michael Hoecht Facing NFL Punishment

The Buffalo Bills were happy to see Michael Hoecht return to the field this past Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Hoecht recorded 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three total tackles in his first game as a Buffalo Bill.

It was what he did after the whistle that could land him in trouble with the NFL. Hoecht was penalized for unnecessary roughness on Carolina’s first play of their final drive. The NFL reviews all plays and will fine players for unnecessary roughness plays, whether or not they were called for a penalty during the game.

Hoecht could be fined $17,389 as a second-time offender. He was fined just over $11,000 last year after hitting Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley in the NFL playoffs last year when he played with the Rams.

The NFL usually hands out and announces fines from the previous week on Saturday. So we will have to see if Hoecht gets a fine from the NFL. The good news is that we won't face another suspension.

The Bills need him around this season as the team will be without defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a torn bicep.
