Former Bills QB signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers
The NFL legal free agency tampering period started just over an hour ago, and one Buffalo Bill has found his new home.
What was already a foregone conclusion around these parts, came to fruition this afternoon as word leaked out that former Bills Quarterback Mitch Trubisky will be signing a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
General Manager Brandon Beane and Head Coach Sean McDermont pretty much said that bringing Trubisky back would be a luxury the team couldn't afford at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago,
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN broke the news minutes ago on Twitter.
Trubisky spent last season in Buffalo, on a one-year $2.5 Million dollar deal to backup Josh Allen. He was originally a 1st round pick (#2 overall) of the Chicago Bears, out of North Carolina. Trubisky spent four years in Chicago, throwing for over 10,000 yards, with 64 TDs and 37 INTs. Chicago had moved up to the #2 spot to select Trubisky and passed on Patrick Mahomes and DeShaun Watson in the process.
The signing leaves the Bills dangerously thin at the QB position, as both Davis Webb and Jake Fromm are with the New York Giants.
With the way the team is currently constructed, one would think that the Bills would be looking to bring in a more seasoned veteran that can win some games in the event that Josh Allen has to miss any time. If the Bills do go QB shopping in free agency, here are their 5 best options to backup Josh Allen in 2022.
