The Most Expensive Gas Seen in Western New York is Ridiculous
Welp, here is where the most expensive gas in Western New York is. How much do you think it is?
You know it is expensive everywhere right now, and you probably could guess that the cheapest gas in Western New York is down in Irving, New York. But, where around Buffalo is the highest price for gas?
$4.99
Mobil
1490 Dodge Rd
East Amherst, NY 1405
The Mobile Gas Station over across the street from the Williamsville North High School has the highest gas, just under a penny at $4.99. That is insane. Help is on the way. We suppose? But, is it too late? How much of a difference is it even going to make? New York State announced that they will be starting the gas tax holiday later on this year, and they urged all of the counties to follow their lead. What does the gas tax holiday mean?
If you do not know, New York State takes a tax on EVERY gallon of gas that you purchase at the pump. You don't see that tax because it is built into the price that you see at the pump. Starting on June 1 this year, New York will not collect portions of the state's sales tax on sales of unleaded and diesel fuel. This will last, at least, until the end of 2022. How much money will we save at the pump? It is about 16 cents that New York State will stop collecting at the pump. Hopefully, all of the counties in New York State followed, so that an additional savings will be given to us.
To compare...right now in California, gas prices have hit over 6 bucks a gallon. The current national average is $4.59.
