New Development Plans For Another Section Of Buffalo
Buffalo is booming. Investors are coming into the area, mesmerized by the architecture. Development in certain areas is happening at a record pace. From Main Street's ongoing development with the Hyatt Regency reopening, Fatty Beer Company, Graylynn Gin Bar and Market, The Flamming Fish, Misuta Chow's, Hatchet and Hops, Noble Root Wine and Spirits, Casa Di Pizza, and Buffalo Cigars, you can eat, drink, shop, be entertained and enjoy a fine cigar all within a one-block radius.
Well now it looks like another stretch of road in another neighborhood is up for a make-over.
According to WGRZ; City officials and developers are looking to give a section of Ellicott Street a face-lift from Goodell Street to the north and Sahlen Field to the south.
Now, here is the interesting thing I discovered about how the street received its name. I mean how does anything get named right? Well, it turns out according to Buffalostreets.com Ellicott Street was named after Joseph Ellicott, a surveyor for a Holland Land Company and the man who basically laid out the entire Queen City.
But that's not all. Buffalostreets.com also informed me that we all will recognize his name while visiting Ellicottville, The Ellicott Building. Ellicott Creek, and so many other places. Talk about a legacy. Joseph Ellicott definitely envisioned the big picture. He died in 1826 and currently resides in Batavia, another city he surveyed and designed. Amazing.
