New York State Police have been busy rounding up alleged criminals in Western New York lately. Here's a rundown of some of the recent arrests that they have made.

Frewsburg Man Arrested For Child Pornography

A 38-year-old Frewsburg man was arrested by New York State Police for Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and 10 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Jamestown received a tip about John Peterson from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Peterson had allegedly uploaded multiple pornographic files of underage victims to a device between December 2020 and March 2022. NYSP conducted a search of his home and found a deserialized loaded 9mm handgun and two electronic devices. The Troop A Computer Crime Unit confirmed that pornographic images of children were present on the devices. Peterson was arrested and processed at the State Police precinct in Jamestown. He is due back in the town of Carroll Court at a later date. Frewsburg is located in Chautauqua County in the southwestern portion of New York.

Olean Woman Arrested For Stealing From Walmart

State Police Troopers out of Olean arrested an Olean woman for allegedly stealing from Walmart. The 42-year-old woman was arrested for petit larceny at the store in the town of Allegany. Melinda J. Chase is accused of shoplifting $489 worth of merchandise. She was arrested and taken to the State Police precinct in Olean for processing. Chase was given a ticket and is due in Allegany Town Court later this month.

Yorkshire Man Arrested For Drug Possession

State Police out of Machias arrested 28-year-old Richard I. Fancher, Jr., of Yorkshire, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Troopers were called to a home on Gooseneck Road in the town of Yorkshire for a trespassing incident. There they discovered that Fancher had methamphetamine in his possession. He was arrested and given a ticket to return to Fancher Town Court in November.

Clarence Man Arrested For DWI

On October 8, 2022, a 21-year-old Clarence man was arrested by State Police Troopers out of Olean for allegedly driving while intoxicated. NYSP Troopers conducted a traffic stop on state route 219 in the town of Great Valley. While Michael J. Donner was pulled over for traffic violations, Troopers allegedly smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Donner failed multiple field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He was taken to the State Police precinct in Olean for processing, where Troopers recorded his blood alcohol content to be .13%. He was issued traffic tickets and is due to return to the town of Great Valley court in November.

Frewsburg Man Arrested For Assault

A 26-year-old Frewsburg man was arrested by State Police Troopers out of Jamestown for Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The victim was at a friend's house when Devin Haskins allegedly entered the residence and hit the victim in the face, causing injuries. The incident happened in the presence of a juvenile. He was arrested and taken to the State Police precinct in Jamestown for processing. Haskins was released with a ticket to return to the town of Carroll Court later this month.

Lockport Woman Arrested for Grand Larceny

State Police out of Lockport arrested a 38-year-old Lockport woman for Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. Troopers were called to Citizens Bank on South Transit Road in Lockport for alleged larceny. Troopers and bank staff found that Tiffany H. Miller allegedly made unauthorized transactions with a stolen debit card. Once Troopers located Miller, she was arrested and taken to SP Lockport for processing. She is due back in the town of Lockport court this month.
