Barack Obama and Mitt Romney got to blow off some steam last night at the Al  Smith Dinner, a pre-election tradition that should just be called an election roast. Each candidate took some good natured jabs at the other at the Catholic Charities event.

Romney told the audience, “In keeping with the Sesame Street theme, the president’s remarks are brought to you by the letter O and the number 16 trillion” while Obama joked "It seems like this race has dragged on forever, but Paul Ryan assured me that we've only been running for two hours and 50-something minutes.”

So who won the debate as the better roaster? Both handled themselves pretty well and both were willing to make fun of themselves with Obama admitting he had more energy' in the second debate: "I felt really well rested after the nice, long nap I had in the first."

Romney, knowing he’s been characterized as an out of touch rich guy spelled out how the media will cover the dinner: "Obama embraced by Catholics, Romney dines with rich people."

Sounds like a great way to blow off some steam in what is surely a stessful race for both candidates. President Obama also used the trip to New York to visit the Daily Show with John Stewart to try and re-engerzize the youth vote which got him elected four years ago.

Watch the highlights, both candidates had some great comic timing!
