At the Drive In’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez + Teri Gender Bender Cover Depeche Mode’s ‘I Feel You’
At the Drive-In recently confirmed they will reunite in 2016 for new music and a world tour. For the latter, the hardcore outfit will be accompanied by Mexican punks Le Butcherettes. In anticipation of their jaunt together, ATDI’s Omar Rodríguez-López and Le Butcherettes’ Teri Gender Bender have teamed up on an inspired Depeche Mode cover.
Rodríguez-López and Gender Bender are joined by Baltimore-based With Lions for a singular take on Depeche Mode’s 1993 track “I Feel You,” which diverges quite a bit from the original. Gender Bender delivers a haunting vocal atop a sprawling, Old Western-inspired soundscape. Take a listen below and then compare it to Depeche Mode’s version at the bottom of the page.
This isn’t the first time Rodríguez-López and Gender Bender have joined forces. The two artists make up one-half of Bosnian Rainbows, and together they put out their self-titled debut in 2013. Likewise, Rodríguez-López has produced all three of Le Butcherettes’ full-length releases since 2011’s Sin Sin Sin.
At the Drive-In’s reunion tour kicks off on March 23 in L.A. before the band heads to Europe. They’ll return to the states in May, when they’re slated to play Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta and Rock on the Range Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio. The band plan to release new music in 2016, which will be their first since 2000.
