We're less than four weeks away from the Fourth of July holiday.

Technically, the summer season doesn't officially begin until June 21st but considering it's after Memorial Day Weekend, it's basically summer for many of us in Western New York.

What do you think of when you hear the 4th of July?

Fireworks are number one for sure. You have cookouts, swimming, music, hanging with family and friends with some local beers, but the use of fireworks and fireworks displays are the thing that separates the 4th of July from other summer holidays.

Living in South Buffalo, I hear plenty of fireworks on the 4th of July; not from professional displays, but from neighbors who use them in the streets and backyards.

You fully expect to hear fireworks on the 4th of July. If you're a dog owner, than that night can be just consoling your pup until the morning.

Nothing beats a great fireworks display and I love watching and even hearing them.

However, that is on the 4th of July. The 4th of July Weekend is also fair game for fireworks...but for as long as I have lived in Western New York, there are always the random fireworks that get blasted off when it's not on the 4th of July -- not even close, in fact.

On Monday and Tuesday night, my fiancée and I heard fireworks being set off around 10:30 pm. Yes, it's early June on a weeknight.

It's everyone's right to do whatever they wish to do in their own yard and property, but when it comes to things that make extremely loud noises after 10 pm, then it automatically becomes the business of neighbors who might have to get up early in the morning.

There used to be a neighbor in my apartment building who had to get up at 4 am every morning for a 5 am work start time. He went to bed at 10 pm every night. Those are the people who are the most aggravated by loud fireworks on a random weeknight after a certain time.

I'm fully expecting to hear fireworks more often the closer we get to the 4th of July and it always extends well into the month of July.

Let's just try and be more considerate for your neighbors in Western New York when setting off fireworks over the next few weeks. If it's after 10:30 pm on a Monday evening, one month away from the 4th of July, you probably don't have to set off those fireworks just yet.
