It's just another sign of the spring season in Buffalo! The second season of the Independent Health Reddy Bikeshare is ready to roll throughout the area! In the past week you probably saw the red kiosks being set up in the area. The kiosks will soon hold over 200 Reddy Bikes that will let patrons explore Buffalo on bikes. Last year was the inaugural season of the bikeshare in Buffalo through a partnership with Independent Health and Share Mobility Inc.

“This state-of-the-art bike share program provides local residents and visitors with an alternate form of transportation that supports healthy, active lifestyles while also offering a fun and easy way to explore the waterfront, downtown, and surrounding neighborhoods.”

With Reddy Bikeshare, patrons can pick up a bicycle at any of the designated kiosks throughout the city and drop them off at any of the kiosks throughout the city. The bikes are equipped with GPS tracking devices and tools to count calories and measure you activity, these bikes are designed to give you not just a ride but an experience.

How does the whole bikeshare work? Pretty simple. You will need a credit card because everything is done on their app. From reserving to paying, it's all at your finger tips.

1- Download the SoBi app on your phone and make sure your phone’s GPS is on so it can find bikes available nearby.

2- Reserve and unlock your bike.

3- Ride like the wind!

One of the cool things about Reddy Bikeshare is it gives you the option to 'HOLD' your bike without having to re-reserve and pay again. For example, you pick up the bike at the Library in Lafayette Square and want to head over Allentown however, you need to make a stop at the Post Office on Washington St and E. Tupper first. No problem. You can park your bike at the station near the Post Office and put your bike on 'HOLD', drop your mail off, and hop back on the bike and your still logged in under your initial pickup at the library. Pretty convenient and takes away the stress of possibly loosing your bike to another rider while you're in the post office.

Pricing for the Reddy Bikeshare is pretty reasonable and they have several different packages to fit different riders. Hourly for the visiting tourist, Annual for the the rider who loves to explore the are and a Group pass for the people who want to go in a pass with three of their friends. They also offer special pricing if UB students as well.
