Sabres fans who struggled to watch Game Two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Second Round needed some additional antacid as the Habs gave Buffalo fits in Game Three, which was played in the Bell Centre in downtown Montreal.

The Sabres started the scoring in the game with a nice rebound goal from Buffalo's Olympic Gold Medalist Tage Thompson, who was assisted by Rasmus Dahlin just 53 seconds into the first period. That goal put the Sabres up early, which fired up both the bench and the entire Sabrehood.

While that goal was a bright spot for the Sabres, there was only one for a while as the Habs went on a scoring tear in the second period, with Montreal's Alex Newhook, Cole Caufield, Zachary Bolduc, and Juraj Slafkovsky all getting goals past Buffalo's amorphous blob Alex Lyon, giving them a 4-1 lead.

Thanks to some great skate and puck work by Rasmus Dahlin, who got some help from Tage Thompson and Josh Doan, was able to make the score was 4-2 at the end of the second period.

While Alex Lyon made several great saves over the course of three periods, 31 saves in total, the Sabres weren't able to generate enough defense to keep Montreal from scoring two more goals in the third period, giving them a 6-2 victory.

Looking at the stat sheet, by all accounts the Habs dominated the Sabres on the way to putting more shots on goal and taking more shots attempt, winning more than 60% of the face-offs, and scoring on more than 30% of their power plays.

Now both teams look forward to Game Four, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Montreal. Puck drop is set for 7 pm.
