Over the weekend Guns N Roses was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rather than take it as an honor, disgruntled lead singer, Axl Rose whined about it and said he wasn't going to show up. He didn't even want his name included. Steven Adler used the opportunity to take some shots at Rose and was especially disparaging to Rose's current "Guns" bandmates who he called "hacks" only to apologize a day later saying he meant "scabs".

Now the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame comittee has been rightly criticized for some horrible past selections and glaring oversights. One wonders if it can even be called a "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame. While it was nice to see them choose another band from the Hard Rock genre, you have to wonder why it was Guns N Roses?

The band's debut album, "Appetite for Destruction," was a fantastic record front to back and broke from the underground to the mainstream. But for all intents and purposes they had a short career which started in 1987 and was essentially over by 1993.

Even Matt Sorum and Steven Adler questioned weather they deserved to be there when Kiss and Rush were still being passed over for the Hall. They also mentioned Journey, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest as bands that were far more deserving.

"If it wasn’t for those bands and a couple other ones, there would have never been a GNR.” said Adler.

Guns N Roses career is really more akin to Boston, with a huge debut album and a few decent records after the fact. Only Boston weren't dicks!

"Lies" was an EP to keep fans satisfied until the release of "Use your Illusion I and II" , the much hyped double album that fell short of the epic stature the band was shooting for. The Spaghetti Incident, well was the Spaghetti Incident, a terrible cover album of punk songs that I hope you never wasted your money on.

Rose sounded horrible live, and it didn't help that he never started the show on time (the Rich Stadium gig with Metallica started way late thanks to Rose refusing to go on stage). In fact, no band was better at causing crowd riots than Guns-N-Roses, thanks to Axl's penchant for showing up late. If there was a Hall of Fame for Lead Singers disease, Rose had it nailed.

Rose broke apart the band and brought in new members taking 15 years to put out "Chinese Democracy". The release date for a new Guns N Roses album became as much of a joke as Axl's receding hair line. When it was finally released in 2008, it wasn't up to "Appetite" standards. So it begs the question...
