St. Bonaventure Advances To NIT Quarterfinals In New York City
The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team advanced to the final four of the NIT, and they are in New York City gearing up for their next match-up.
The Bonnies will take on Xavier Tuesday @ 7pm at Madison Square Garden.
Madison Square Garden is not only home to the New York Knicks, but it is also known as one of the most well-known, familiar buildings in sports and live entertainment. The Bonnies could be one of the last teams in the NIT to play on the famous court because following this season, the tournament will not be held at Madison Square Garden in the foreseeable future…for at least two years and maybe more.
If the Bonnies win against Xavier on Tuesday, they will advance to the NIT championship game to play the winner of Texas A&M and Washington State.
This could be the first time St. Bonaventure makes it back to the championship game since 1977 when the Bonnies won their only NIT title.
St. Bonaventure is fighting to get there and end their 45 year drought.
Last week, the Bonnies won a nail biter 52-51 against Virginia. Now they are in New York City gearing up for the quarterfinals against Xavier.
Xavier plays St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m., followed by the other quarterfinal matchup between Texas A&M and Washington State. Tipoff for that second game is at 9:30 p.m.
