Let's face it, sometimes the stresses of work and deadlines can be too much to handle. Everyone needs a vacation every once in a while to unplug and get away from it all.

Usually, when you think of a vacation, it's somewhere out of state, right? It's probably going to cost a lot of money and take a lot of planning and maneuvering. It doesn't have to be that way, however. What if you wanted to just take a long weekend (three or four days) and stay relatively close to home. There are plenty of great options for you to do that.

We're extremely fortunate to live in Western New York, because of all the water that surrounds us. From lakes to rivers and even canals, we have it made if you want to go to the water for some rest and relaxation. It makes spring and summer fun that much better.

My favorite region is the Finger Lakes, which is only a 90-minute to a 2-hour drive away and the views are spectacular. From breweries to wineries, there are plenty of activities to do as well. There are also state parks that are perfect for the entire family. Maybe it's just you and your significant other, then a quaint little town might be the play.
