Town Of Tonawanda Police Adds Adorable New Member
The Town of Tonawanda just added a new member to their police force, and she's going to become very popular there.
Her name is Lucy, and she's the newest therapy dog to join the Town of Tonawanda police.
Her name is Lucy, and she was a gift from a local charity group called Hope Rises. They're a group that is dedicated to change through hope-filled news every day. They also help out with giveback projects just like this one.
They teamed up with multiple other agencies such as WNYHeroes.org, Milk-Bone, Purina, Loose Leash Dog Training LLC- Service Dog & Therapy Dog Training, and Lisa J Papp of English Bulldogs.
Who is Lucy the therapy dog?
Lucy is an English Bulldog. She's still just a puppy, and she's going through training right now. Eventually, she will help officers with critical comfort after tough calls, and she will help break down barriers between officers and community members who may be nervous or unsure of them.
Just imagine all those rolls waddling up to make you happy after what could be one of the roughest days of your life!
Where did they come up with the name "Lucy?"
The name Lucy means "carrier of light" and they chose it in memory of the late Captain Christine Milosich. She worked to launch a therapy dog program for the department before her tragic passing from cancer. Unfortunately she wasn't able to get it done before her passing, but Lucy will be there in memory of her.
