The Buffalo Bills have benefitted tremendously from the play known as the "tush push." It's essentially a quarterback sneak play, but a player or two help push the quarterback forward to get extra yardage. It's used to get first downs in short-yardage situations, as well as touchdowns on the goal line.

And the Bills have used it a lot, and to great success. Well, minus the AFC championship game, though the referee's spot was questionable at best.

Here's an example of the Bills using a tush-push play.

But are the days of the Bills using the Tush Push coming to an end?

Tush Push Might Become Illegal

The Green Bay Packers reportedly have proposed banning the tush push. Many teams find the play upsetting because it almost guarantees a first down or touchdown when used. Even people in Bills Mafia know it's a bit of a hack the team has due to Josh Allen being bigger and stronger than a typical quarterback. Add a couple of guys pushing him forward, and it's very hard to stop. In fact, the Bills have had the second most success using the play, as well as using it the second most, behind only the originators of it, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, a lot has to happen before the play can be banned. It's merely a topic of discussion at league meetings moving forward and could very well not be made illegal this season or at all. But how the Buffalo Bills feel about the play being potentially banned is something you may want to think about. Especially after head coach Sean McDermott spoke about it.

Do The Buffalo Bills Want to Ban the "Tush Push?"

Sean McDermott spoke to the media yesterday from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He was asked about the proposal and made it clear he has concerns about the play being used.

McDermott expressed his concern about the safety of the play, as it is potentially dangerous seeing you have a lot of large human beings piling on each other. So even though the Bills clearly benefit, the coach sees it as a potential issue. McDermott doesn't want his star quarterback, Josh Allen, getting inured. Even if Josh is great at utilizing the Tush Push, it's still a potentially dangerous play. After all, he injured his throwing hand in the AFC championship, and it may have happened during a Tush Push play.

We'll have to wait and see how the league discusses it. Should the Tush Push be outlawed?
