After another rocky performance, the Bills Mafia wants kicker Tyler Bass cut. However, they might be stuck with him.

Ever since Tyler Bass missed a game-tying field goal in the playoffs against Kansas City, things have not been going well. The kicker seems to have a bit of the "yips." He had an UGLY miss in the Bills' win yesterday on an extra-point try that allegedly was blocked.

He also missed a field goal and is 9/12 on the season. He did hit what became the game-winner, though.

20 years ago, a kicker hitting 9 out of 12 kicks would be considered pretty good. Today, however, it's not. Field Gola kickers are making long kicks with easy, let alone the short ones that Bass seems to be missing. He is just 2 for 5 between 40-49 yards, and those kicks are considered easy in today's NFL.

As a result, fans have been ferociously asking the Bills to cut the kicker. The problem is that it's just not that simple.

Are The Buffalo Bills Stuck with Kicker Tyler Bass?

The main reason they can't cut him is because of his cap hit. If the Bills released Tyler Bass, it would be a whopping $7,380,000 DEAD CAP hit immediately on a team that has very little cap room as is. Even if they cut him after the season, it's a $3,060,000 dead cap hit. They could trade him, but who is going to take a kicker who is missing easy kicks and costs a lot of money?

Of course, we said the same thing about Stefon Diggs: that there was no way the Bills would take the cap hit and trade him. They proved us wrong by sending him to the Texans, taking a $31-million dead cap hit this season.

Still, it's hard to see them choosing to eat that dead cap.

There's also the problem of who is going to replace Bass. "Anyone" is a fun thing to tweet, but not a real answer. The free agents available all have very similar stats to Tyler Bass, or worse. It's not like there's a kicker out there teams are dying to sign, or else they would have signed him.

Does that mean the Bills won't try? No, they may add a second kicker, and reports say they are working out one today. CLICK HERE for more.

Let's all hope he figures it out. That would be best for the Bills, the fans, and Tyler Bass.
