UB Men and Women Bow Out of NCAA Tournament

It was the end of the road for both the University of Buffalo Bulls men's and women's basketball teams in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.  The Texas Tech Red Raiders dominated UB on the men's side enroute to a 78-58 men while the the women were beaten by one of the best teams in the country over the past two decades.  The University of Connecticut eliminated UB 84-74.For a team that averaged 85 points during the season it was an embarrassing end to a great season for the UB men.  It took the Bulls nearly eight minutes to finally hit a field goal in the second half while Texas Tech seemed to hit on every shot they made.  From late in the first half to the start of the second the Raiders went on a 27-3 run and never looked back.

The Bulls had won 13 in a row until they were dismantled by the Raiders.  C J Massinburg who had been averaging over 18 points a game had just two in the first half.  He finished with 14.

Nick Perkins led the scoring for Buffalo with 17 points and had 10 rebounds.  The Bulls finish the season with a record of 32-4.

The UB women opened their game against the Huskies by giving up the first 15 points and trailed by 24 points in the third quarter, but they battled back to make a game of it.  The Bulls came within eight of the lead in the fourth quarter but the Huskies closed out what turned out to be their closest second round NCAA game since 1999.
