It wasn't a joke when the California Highway Patrol got the call that dozens of chickens were tying up traffic! It was mid afternoon when the call went out that a cage full of chickens fell off a truck and had traffic stopped.

According to the report: lanes were shut down on the southbound side of the 605-Freeway in Downey to the 105 Freeway. The lane opened about an hour later as Animal Control worked to remove the birds from the roadway.
