Call it what you will, weed, Mary Jane, pot, whacky tobacky, there is no denying that the market for marijuana has grown exponentially in the past few months/years.

The difference between how the plant was once viewed has also changed. Once criminalized in years past the medical benefits of cannabis have recently come to light (albeit a blacklight).

More and more companies are buying up real estate and land to help grow the plant in a controlled environment and dispensaries are popping up all over the country including right here in Western New York. There are more strains of the stuff than munchies to consume once high.

The latest community to vote on making it easier to buy marijuana is now the Village of East Aurora. WKBW helps clear the smoke on the news of residents and others having access to purchase the smoke but there are a few concerns and conditions.

East Aurora is a great community so this should not come as a surprise to anyone. Do you know how many bars are within a few-mile radius? A friend who lives there told me 21 with another one, Left Coast Taco, getting their license to start serving adult beverages soon.

Also, this is a fun little fact that may be known (or unknown). East Aurora has an open container law. Yes, you can walk around with wobbly pops as long as it is in a container that is not glass. Save that material for all the bongs and pipes.
