It does feel as though it's getting a little confusing as to what we should and shouldn't be doing these days.  If you're coming from out of state, which states require a self quarantine?

We've done a pretty good job at flattening the curve of the covid19 pandemic here in New York State.  While we were once the state with the most cases and deaths in the country due to coronavirus, we are now starting to see less and less admissions because of it.  Governor Cuomo would like for that to continue.

We are not fully open yet in New York State but we've moved to what is considered the 4th phase of their re-opening plan.  Any businesses that are not included on the phase 4 list, will open on a case by case basis.

However, Cuomo is not opening the floodgates completely and says that people that are coming from states that are seeing a resurgence in cases will have to go through a self-quarantine for 14 days.  Officially it says:

"All travelers entering New York from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents, or higher than a 10% test positivity rate, over a seven day rolling average, will be required to quarantine for a period of 14 days consistent with Department of Health regulations for quarantine."

What are those states:

What does that mean?  If you are coming from any of the states listed in the tweet above, according to the CDC, self quarantine includes:

  • Stay home until 14 days after your last exposure.
  • Check your temperature twice a day and watch for symptoms of COVID-19.
  • If possible, stay away from people who are at higher-risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.
