There is a deer hunters banquet and raffle that will be taking place in one of Western New York's busiest towns. Deer Camp Tour 2022 will be at Classic V Banquet and Conference Center in Amherst on Saturday May 7.

If you are interested, there is a deadline for tickets. Whitetails Unlimited is hosting the fundraising event that will include a dinner, auctions and prizes and merchandise.

Whitetails Unlimited’s mission is to raise funds in support of (1) educational programs, (2) wildlife habitat enhancement and acquisition, and (3) preservation of the hunting tradition and shooting sports for future generations.

This looks like a fun event for hunters both young and old and tickets are priced at $45, $35 and $30 for kids 15 and under.

Deer hunting has become even more popular with the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only have hunters gotten back in to the woods to enjoy the time they have away from work, the shortages and supply issues have forced many families to rely on venison and other game meats to fill the void that was created as a result of the COVID pandemic.

But it is not just hunting that has people heading back to the outdoors, fishing is also very popular here in Western New York. As we get ready for warm weather (eventually?) the fishing seasons are getting ready to start. Trout fishing this year? There are plenty of great placed to try. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has stocked many streams, ponds and lakes with young trout that are ripe for the catch! Good luck!
