Bills OC Brian Daboll Named New York Giants Head Coach

It's something that Buffalo Bills fans have been thinking could happen, ever since last January, when offensive coordinator Brian Daboll interviewed for multiple head coaching vacancies, and was a finalist for the Lost Angeles Chargers job.

It was a threat again this January, and it finally happened this evening.

According to ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the New York Giants have named Brian Daboll their new head coach.

Daboll was considered one of the two finalists for the position, along with former Miami Dolphins head coach, Brian Flores. Daboll was scheduled to interview a second time with the Miami Dolphins next week, which won't happen now.

Daboll reunites with Giants general manager Joe Schoen, who was hired last week by the Giants, after being the assistant general manager with the Bills under Brandon Beane the last several seasons.

Daboll has helped Josh Allen become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, in his time with the Bills. In fact, Allen is probably in the top two quarterbacks now with Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

Bills fans now wait to see what happens with Bills quarterback coach and passing game coordinator, Ken Dorsey.

Dorsey is extremely close with Allen and has also helped turn him into an elite NFL talent. Dorsey could go with Daboll to the Giants as their new OC, but Daboll would likely call plays, while he could stay with Allen and call plays in Buffalo. It should be interesting to see.

If I'm Dorsey, I stay with Allen. It would also serve him better if he wants a head coaching job in the near future Dorsey was one of the best college quarterbacks ever at the University of Miami, and played quarterbacks with the 49ers and Browns, before turning to coaching about a decade ago.

I'm very happy for Daboll, a Western New York native, who has absolutely earned this head coaching job, after years as an OC in the NFL and college game.
