There are certain things in every community that never shut down. In Florida, it's the Waffle House. The 24/7 restaurant never closes, literally. It's open every holiday and through every storm. However, if they close, it means things are very serious. That's exactly what happened this week when Waffle Hosue Restaurants in Florida closed for Hurricane Ian. Rightfully so, and we all are praying for those living in the path of this horrible storm.

In Buffalo, the weather can be harsh but never as dangerous as a hurricane. It's known for its big snow storms. In fact, when the first one or any big one comes it's common for national reporters to come here to show the "devastation." Of course, there never really is any. The nice part about snow is you can shovel snow and while it is dangerous and no laughing matter, people in Western New York are more than capable of handling it. It's a point of pride for all Buffalonians that snow never stops us. That included business.

The truth is that when the snow comes pouring in not much closes, if anything. Schools have become more cautious in recent years with remote learning. Lots of people can work from home now. However, there are a number of places that will be open no matter how much snow is falling.

If these places do close it means it's bad. Real bad. Like Floridians know its bed when Waffle House closes, Buffalonians know its bad snow storm when these businesses close.
