The Buffalo Sabres will kick off their season overseas.

The 2024-25 regular season schedule begins on Friday, October 4th against the New Jersey Devils in Prague, Czechia. The two teams will play the next day in Prague as well. The games are part of the NHL Global series. It's an interesting matchup too, with new Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff facing the team that fired him last season.

Czechia is also the home of Sabres' great Dominik Hasek, so expect to see him.

The first actual home game, and first in North America this season, happens on Thursday, October 10th against the LA Kings. Then the Sabres host the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers on Saturday, October 12.

Other interesting notes:

The Sabres don't play rival Toronto until Sunday, December 15 (away).

The Sabres are home during Thanksgiving, with 2 games the day before and after: Wednesday, November 27 against Minnesota and Black Friday, November 29 against Vancouver. They do not play on Christmas Eve or Day but do play at Dallas on New Year's Eve.  They play Chicago at home on December 27 for those looking for a good gift. The team is on a road trip for New Year's Week this year.

32 of their games fall on a Friday or Saturday.

The first West Coast road trip happens during Thanksgiving week in November, the 20 - 23 against LA, Anaheim, and San Jose. The next is, sort of, during New Year's week, which is 4 games against St. Louis, Dallas, Colorado and Las Vegas. More of a Midwest trip but still. 2 weeks later they have another West Coast 4-game swing from January 28 - 25 against Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton who now have former Sabre Jeff Skinner. The final (sort of) west coast trip is March 20 - 23 against Utah, Minnesota, and Winnipeg.

The Sabres play at Boston on St. Patrick's Day, Monday, March 17.
