Buffalo Teacher Faces Life in Prison
A teacher who worked for the Buffalo Public School district could spend the rest of his life in jail.
WKBW is reporting that Michael Masecchia has pled guilty in US Federal Court to multiple crimes including gun possession for use during drug trafficking and marijuana sales.
The former teacher at Buffalo's Grover Cleveland High School was originally arrested in August 2019 and charged with a slew of crimes. According to the criminal complaint, Masecchia and a group of others had a marijuana growing operation in the Southtowns. Masecchia is accused of selling marijuana all over WNY since at least 1999.
When he was arrested, authorities found a cache of money, weapons, and drug paraphernalia.
With his guilty plea, Masecchia faces the potential of spending the rest of his life behind bars when he is sentenced and having to pay a $250,000 fine.
Talk about the Buffalo version of Walter White from the AMC TV show "Breaking Bad." I honestly wonder if Masecchia had a cool street nickname like "Heisenberg."
All jokes aside, this really doesn't sit right with me. Here we have someone entrusted to teach our children to be the best humans they can be and all the while he's a dealer.
