Cost of Thanksgiving Dinner to Jump 13 Percent [#SAVETHANKSGIVING]
According to the American Farm Bureau, the price of Thanksgiving dinner will be 13 percent higher this year than last, marking the biggest jump since 1990.
While everything — from the cranberries to the sweat potatoes to pumpkin pie mix — will be more costly in 2011, most of the rise in price can be attributed to the turkey, which is 22 percent more expensive than it was last year.
Overall, a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 will cost $49.20 in 2001, or $4.92 a person.
The farm bureau comes to these figures using a network of volunteer shoppers who buy ingredients at stores dispersed throughout the nation.
