The Empire State doesn't generally go too far outside the box when it comes to Thanksgiving. Turkey, Stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and classics like cranberry sauce will be found on most tables each and every year. As you gather together and give thanks this holiday, what will your sides be? Chances are, in New York, they'll be these three things.

Mac & Cheese Is New York's Top Side Dish

Mac & Cheese being number 1 might surprise some. As Campbell's reports, it's on the rise as a big side dish in the United States for Thanksgiving. In particular, it's the number 1 side for Gen Z. It's ranked 4th overall in the United States. The only other state where it's number 1 is Florida.

For the rest of the country, the number one side dish is stuffing, which came in at #4 in New York State. 63% of Americans prefer sides to turkey. 47% say they'd be fine skipping the turkey altogether for just sides on Thanksgiving.

I agree. Sides, to me, are what make the dinner. I've had two great turkeys in my life, with most being too dry, bland, or just not exciting. The sides are what make it, and in my household, Mac & Cheese has become something that sort of just appeared one year and has stayed ever since. I can't imagine Thanksgiving without it anymore.

What's your favorite side?
