The weekend after Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year.  It’s not quite winter out so you can still get outside and enjoy the fresh air and of course there are tons of delicious leftovers in the fridge!  I swear I’ll never get sick of eating cold turkey sandwiches for days after Thanksgiving!

Now that Thanksgiving is OFFICIALLY over and the turkey has had his day to shine it on to the next holiday!  Today at Absolut Care in East Aurora they are holding their annual Light Up the Holidays.  Kick off the holiday season right in the village of East Aurora.  Today they will be holding their ceremonial tree lighting ceremony by Mayor Allan Kasperzak on the front lawn.  Then you can stick around and check out all of the festivities!  There is something for everyone in the family to participate in!  Join them for hot cocoa and cookies; face painting, crafts for kids, horse drawn carriage rides, and even carolers.  Stick around too because the jolly fat man himself will be making a stop that night in East Aurora!  Santa will be arriving courtesy of the East Aurora Fire Department and everyone will have the chance to get their photos taken with Santa and let him know every single thing you want for Christmas!  Light up the Holidays is going to be located at the Absolute Care of Aurora Park on Main Street at 7pm.

Another fantastic thing to kick off the holiday season – watching a Christmas Story!  The Lancaster Opera House today and tomorrow will be showing a Christmas Story on the big screen!  I love this movie!  Seriously how can you not watch this movie and think wow I really want a lamp of a ladies leg in my front window.  Or even better how many of us have had that crazy aunt that sends us Christmas presents like the pink bunny suit! I can’t stop laughing now! If you haven’t seen this movie this is the perfect time to catch it!  You’ll follow 9-year old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB Gun under the tree for Christmas.  The showings are today at 2:30pm and 7:30pm and tomorrow at 2:30 at the Lancaster Opera House.
